Why the jump into Powerlifting?
It seemed like something new that I would be interested in and want to participate in regularly.
How long (if at all) had you been doing Powerlifting before joining Fortius?
Why did you choose Fortius?
The certifications of the coaches and how often the gym was open.
What kind of progress have you made since starting at Fortius?
Overall I have become more confident in my lifts, and I have been able to make steady progress in increasing those lifts. All the coaches stress the importance of form and proper technique, so I am able to do these lifts without hurting myself. I CAN FINALLY TOUCH MY TOES.
What is your proudest accomplishment so far at Fortius?
Having the ability to go up to anyone in the gym and start a conversation. I don’t think I would’ve done this before coming to Fortius.
What would you say is the biggest misconception about Powerlifting?
We have so many supportive members!! Everyone is so friendly and wants to help you succeed. Also we have some STRONG women at our gym. I love being surrounded by such empowering women.
Favorite Powerlifting Movement:
Deadlifts are my favorite!
Least Favorite Powerlifting Movement:
Lunges are my least favorite 🙁
What advice would you give to someone looking to start Powerlifting?
JUST DO IT! TRY IT! LOVE IT! You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great 😉
What’s next? What are your goals for the future?
I want to compete in my first powerlifting competition in 2018. Also being more nutrition-focused and becoming a lean mean powerlifting machine.
