James SonnoWeightlifting Coach

    James Sonno

    Weightlifting Coach

James has been an athlete for the majority of his life, primarily as a competitive swimmer of 11 years, reaching the junior national and NCAA Division II levels. After swimming, he participated in a strength & conditioning internship at UC San Diego, where he fell in love with the Olympic lifts, with the help of his coaches.

He has been lifting at Crossfit Fortius for almost three years, where he has seen massive improvements in technique, strength, and flexibility following the Fortius programming. He would love to pass on his knowledge of technique, programming and his experiences as a weightlifter, athlete, and lifelong lover of lifting weights!

Currently, James is working in San Diego as a licensed civil engineer. His other hobbies include surfing, yoga, and cooking delicious breakfasts for himself and his girlfriend Courtney. Let’s get stronger together!
