Sebastian’s athletic career began in high school as a varsity wrestler and track & field athlete. In addition to competitive sports, he took advanced weight training and conditioning courses all four years, with a strong emphasis in powerlifting.
In late 2014, towards the end of his four years in the Marine Corps, Sebastian found Crossfit as an effective means to increase his strength alongside his conditioning. Given his competitive nature, he quickly shifted his focus towards Olympic Weightlifting, realizing that perfecting these technical movements would be essential to his success in Crossfit. Soon after, Weightlifting became his passion, and he never turned back.
Without a coach, Sebastian became a student of the sport, reading research articles and watching videos produced by successful coaches of various nations and styles throughout the world in order to enhance his own skills. Three years of rigorous training has elevated him to a competitive realm within the sport of Weightlifting. During this time, he also discovered a passion for teaching others, and he began coaching at Nemesis Weightlifting.
In addition being a coach, he is also a full-time student at Mesa College as a kinesiology major, with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy.
After joining the Fortius team in 2017, and under the incredibly experienced, watchful eye of Coach David Miller, Sebastian has vastly increased his own strength and consistency, and has his eyes on some big goals for the coming years.
