When did you start at Fortius?
I signed up in February 2020 but didn’t start showing up consistently until October 2020.
Sports / Fitness background?
Since high school football I’ve mostly been jumping in and out of indoor soccer leagues and just standard lifting at 24 hour fitness.
Why did you choose Fortius?
Huge shout out to Ben Fairbee on this one! He introduced me to Fortius in early 2020. I knew Fortius was the place for me once I was exposed to the programming, the coaching, the atmosphere, and the wide range of athletes.
What kind of progress have you made over the past year?
Massive gains in strength and conditioning all while losing about 40lbs since October, but most impressed with the mentality change. I’ve gotten comfortable with being uncomfortable. Accepting that I’m not the best at some movements then challenging those same movements in every WOD.
What the biggest misconception about CrossFit?
I had this misconception that I should be physically “ready” before starting CrossFit. I quickly found out that CrossFit is for all levels of athletes who share the common goal of getting better everyday.
Advice for someone looking to start CrossFit?
Get your foot in the door, do a 7 day trial and sign up! Fortius has top tier programming and coaching that cater to all levels of fitness. Show up, put in the work and the results will speak for themselves.
What’s next? What are your goals for the future?
Main goal is to continue tackling my weaknesses and lose enough weight to turn Big-nastic movements into gymnastics. Long term is to complete WODs at the RX level.
