When did you start at Fortius?
I found Fortius in July when I moved to San Diego.
Sports / Fitness background?
I always told myself I wanted to try CrossFit out and Fortius was luckily the first gym to pop up on google! I played basketball and volleyball since the 6th grade all the way through high school. In college I got into running, strength training and lifting!
Why did you choose Fortius?
I used the week trial to see if CrossFit was really for me. Once I went and met the coaches and people I fell in love! The coaches truly take pride in making us better and having fun. I am very competitive so surrounding myself with competitive people has been huge.
What kind of progress have you made over the past year?
Fitness progress over the past year is definitely in weight and strength. About a year ago I was a little noodle with no muscle at all and today I’m hitting PRs I didn’t even think I could a year ago. As well as my Olympic lifting technique improvement!
What the biggest misconception about CrossFit?
I think the biggest misconception of CrossFit is that it’s gnarly intense and can’t be done by anyone and that’s VERY wrong. I love to see the diversity in fitness levels in all my classes. Anyone can do it!
Advice for someone looking to start CrossFit?
Give into the process! Listen to your coaches and have fun. It’s okay to scale workouts (which took my ego a little time to accept)
What’s next? What are your goals for the future?
I’ve been working with Miguel to get stronger and better with accessory movements to be able to perform all workouts at Rx and get me ready for an in house comp/any comp for 2021!!
