I love fitness. I love exercising. I love sports. I started competitive swimming at the age of 11 and spent 15 years on the US national team. I spent 7 years on a mixed club Greco-Roman wrestling team and by my junior year of Hs, I picked up a tennis racket, and turns out, I wasn’t half bad. I started CrossFit in 2010 and coaching in AZ at Hammer CF in 2012. I was the weirdo la La Fitness doing sit-ups pushups and burpees in between my lifting sets, so CrossFit and metcon’s just felt right. I love lifting, bodybuilding, and working specific muscles to help my CrossFit performance. I now see lifting isolated movements as “homework” and Crossfit as “recess” have to get your strength, mobility, and control before you go all out and loose it on the dance floor.
Turns out all those years of swimming ground my joints against each other which led to a lot of instability and weakness at my hinge points. After 4 knee surgeries in less than 2 years, I have had to change my approach to fitness. More focus on strengthening small muscle groups, decreasing the hyper-mobility in my joints, and increasing the stability at the end range. These next couple of months will be another challenge, as a soon-to-be first-time mom I will be working to find a balance between healing postpartum and working to build back my strength. Mommies Unite!
I love healthcare! I love that fitness is on the side of HEALTHcare, and not sick care! I love working with people who want to see and make change. I love coaching people who are ready to take their health to the next level, whether is in nutrition, strength, mobility, cardio, balance, gymnastics, Olympic lifting, or just overall want to move their body and have fun doing it! It’s your workout, I’m here for you!
