I grew up in a big-time sports household, my grandpa and dad always had the game on or were sharing the newspaper's Sports section with me.. I took an interest in baseball as a youth, I was drawn to the idea that "practice makes perfect" and would constantly be trying to perfect my swing and always want to play hard! I gravitated toward wrestling in high school and was elected Captain my senior year (go Mira Mesa Marauders!) I found CrossFit about 10 years ago and like many, drank "the Kool-Aid" and was officially hooked! I was dedicated to training daily and not only enjoyed my own improved health, but was inspired to see those around me achieve their fitness goals.
There are a few turning points in my life that make me who I am today. After college, I started to not take care of myself and had gotten complacent with my uninspired workout regimen and no so clean eating habits. My physician recommended I get blood work done and my results were not favorable. I was officially diagnosed with pre-hypertension. My family has had a history of cardiac issues and this was my wake-up call. I decided to go all in and join CrossFit and have never looked back! The second turning point in my life happened as soon as our daughter was born. I knew right then and there, I had a responsibility to my wife and our now 3 kids to be around for a long time! It is not always easy balancing family responsibilities, a career, and squeezing in a workout every day, but I am constantly reminded of my why and strive to be my best self each day!
I am inspired by everyone who walks into the gym because I know that they want to improve their personal health. I know from my own personal experience, that when we prioritize our own fitness, all aspects of our entire lives are enriched. I strive to connect with each of our members and am grateful for the opportunity to be trusted with improving their lives! What sets my heart on fire is celebrating our member's PRs, achievement of new skills, and just showing up to class!
